The Nigerian Governors Forum has strongly condemned and disowned both the Coalition of Northern Youth Groups and actions of the Pro-Biafran groups, and pledged loyalty to Nigeria’s unity.

Briefing Journalists at the end of the Forum’s meeting, which ended in the early hours on Thursday, Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum and Governor of Zamfara State, Abdulazeez Yari said Nigeria’s unity cannot be sacrificed for any reason.

He said the forum disowned those calling for division and condemned the activities of such people and pledged more collaboration with the Nigerian government to find a lasting solution to the problem.

His words: “We re-affirm our total commitment to the unity and indivisibility of Nigeria as one nation, with common destiny. Members also exonerated the Governors in the South-East and those in the North from blame of the activities of the youths in the regions and pledged to work with the Nigerian government to address the situation.”

The forum also commiserated with the family, government and people of Taraba State, over the demise of the former Governor of the State, Danbaba Suntai, who died on Wednesday.
